Remembering Deputy Devin Mason

During the early morning hours of Tuesday July 1, 2025, officers with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at a home when shots were fired. Deputy Devin Mason, who graduated just this past March and joined the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, was shot and killed in the exchange. “Mason was always smiling, he’d give you the shirt off his back,” shared his stepdad John. He is survived by his 2-month old son, Brooks, his fiancé, Madi, his mom, Shannon, and stepfather, John.

According to Sheriff Michael August, “Deputy Mason served the people of Darlington County with heart and honor. Though his time with us was far too short, his impact will not be forgotten.”

This fundraiser is coordinated by Serve & Connect, a South Carolina-based nonprofit focused on fostering positive change through sustainable police and community partnerships. Serve & Connect was founded in memory of Officer Greg Alia with the Forest Acres Police Department who was shot and killed in the line of duty on September 30, 2015. This fundraiser is coordinated in partnership with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association, the South Carolina Police Chiefs Association, the South Carolina Sheriffs’ Association, the South Carolina Troopers Association, and the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police. 100% of the funds raised will be donated directly back to Deputy Mason’s family.
