Greg's Groceries Continues Statewide Expansion
On July 22, Serve & Connect joined thirty law enforcement agencies across the state to celebrate their use of Greg’s Groceries as a tool for positive outreach and trust-building statewide. Greg’s Groceries provides boxes of non-perishable food to law enforcement agencies across South Carolina. The boxes are intended to create opportunities for positive, non-enforcement interactions between police officers and community members while fostering an environment to enhance trust.
More than 1,100 boxes of Greg’s Groceries have been packed for distribution this year. Since the program began in 2017, Serve & Connect is proud to have partnered with 33 law enforcement agencies to help pack more than 85,000 meals.
“SLED is fortunate to partner with the amazing people at Serve and Connect,” said Eric Rosdail, SLED community relations agent. “We are very thankful for the opportunity the Greg’s Groceries program is providing SLED and local law enforcement agencies across the state in fostering positive relationships with the communities we serve. I have seen firsthand how law enforcement officers have used the Greg’s Groceries boxes to engage the community to strengthen bonds and establish new levels of trust. We are excited to be a part of the team and look forward to what the future holds.”
“It is an honor and a pleasure working with law enforcement departments and officers from across the state. The commitment among our police partners to build positive, community relations by providing Greg’s Groceries is overwhelming. We are excited to celebrate the hard work of our partner agencies and officers and look forward to onboarding new partners in the second half of 2021,” Jenny Wooten McGill, Serve & Connect’s community outreach coordinator.
